Hello, my name is Sierra Horne, and I am the trainer/owner of Misfit Canine Training Co. While my professional career did not start until late 2023, the beginning of this journey dates to 2019 when I brought home my first mastiff from a rescue. Tobias was a four-year-old Presa Canario and while he did not take a long time to decide I was going to be his person; he and I had much to learn about relationship, manners, and respect of boundaries. Seeing him flourish after we both learned how to communicate, I decided I wanted to figure out how I could help other pet owners struggling like I had.

That is when in 2023 I attended Starmark Academy for Professional Dog Trainers eight-week course. I enjoyed the hands-on learning and easy camaraderie found in the classroom with other trainers from all over the United States. Like many of these types of schools, Starmark partners with local shelters/rescues to provide dogs for students to learn with and the possibility to adopt directly from the program. It was here I absolutely fell in love with Danica, an hound mix, and Quill a border collie/husky mix. Both these dogs' tenacity to keep learning matched mine so I knew they would be great pets to help me in building on own my own skillsets.

After graduating from Starmark, I began working at a Training facility helping in the board and train program. For those next few years, I worked with many assorted sizes and temperaments of dogs and learned from all of them. While I will always remain a student of dogs I am excited to now be helping pet owners reconnect with their dogs at home as well.
